Manufacturers of public health pesticides, used in dengue control, are falesly claiming that pesticides are pre-qualified by WHO. The claim is being made in advertisements in newspapers in Pakistan. These advertisements are misleading the public and health officials.

WHO has warned the public and federal and provincial health departments about these false claims.

None of these pesticides have been pre-qualified by WHO and WHO has the right to challenge such claims in the court of law.

WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
