Saving lives of mothers and children: saving the future

13 June 2021 – WHO in Pakistan is striving hard to bring about a positive change in the health care system, a system which ensures the health and well-being of mothers and their newborn children by supporting health departments to establish, refurbish and equip maternal and child health care centres across the country. 

On his recent visit to Pakistan WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Al Mandhari accompanied by the WHO Representative in Pakistan Dr Palitha Mahipala visited a refurbished maternal and child health care centre in Mangophir, Gadap, District West. Dr Al Mandhari expressed his appreciation of the work undertaken to refurbish the centre, in collaboration with the Government of Sindh.

The WHO Representative commended the dedication and commitment of the maternal and child health care staff and assured them of WHO's continuing support. 

WHO has supported the renovation of over 348 Expanded Programme on Immunization centres in Sindh province.
