Regional Director inaugurates WHO-supported nutrition stabilization centre in Pakistan

5 June 2022 - Regional Director Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, during his recent visit to Pakistan, inaugurated a nutrition stabilization centre in Islamabad. The centre will provide treatment to severely acute malnourished children with complications as part of a network of WHO-supported state-of-the-art nutrition stabilization centres across the country.

The centre is based at a Federal Government polyclinic's maternal and child health centre. It has a play area, lactation management room and a ward. WHO has provided the equipment and supplies to run the centre and trained service providers on how to manage children with severe acute malnutrition with complications.

Dr Shahid Hanif, Executive Director of the polyclinic, applauded the initiative by WHO and expressed the polyclinc's commitment to the provision of quality care to malnourished children.
