22 July 2025, Port Sudan, Sudan – Yesterday, World Health Organization (WHO) Head of Mission and Representative in Sudan Dr Shible Sahbani paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency the Prime Minister of Sudan Professor Kamil Idris. 

Professor Idris noted that health is high on his agenda for Sudan and thanked WHO for its contributions to protecting the health of Sudan’s people. He particularly commended WHO for the effective response that helped contain the recent cholera outbreak in Khartoum State and paid tribute to the fruitful collaboration between WHO and the Federal Ministry of Health. 

The Prime Minister and Dr Sahbani agreed that rebuilding and strengthening the health system through a holistic and multisectoral approach while responding to the population’s urgent health needs is an urgent priority and, together with Federal Ministry of Health representatives, recommended involving all relevant health and non-health stakeholders and sectors in achieving these goals.

Dr Sahbani assured Prime Minister Professor Idris of WHO’s unwavering commitment to protecting the health of Sudan’s people and ensuring access to quality health care for everyone, everywhere in Sudan.

WHO Sudan Health Emergency lead Hala Khudari and senior officials from the Federal Ministry of Health attended the meeting.
