WHO Sudan receives TB technical advisory group review mission for Epi-LabWHO TB Medical Officer Dr Aayid Munim discussing findings and recommendations with the TB technical advisory group led by Professor Don Enarson of International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases

The main findings of the review of epidemiological laboratory (Epi-Lab) activities in Sudan, in addition to challenges and recommendations, were discussed during a meeting at the WHO country office in Sudan. 

The tuberculosis (TB) technical advisory group review mission, led by Professor Don Enarson, Head of the Scientific Committee of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases together with Professor Asma Elsony, Director of the Epi-Lab met with the WHO Sudan TB team on 26 June 2012.

Strong partnership and the continued provision of technical support from WHO were highlighted as essential components in the implementation of activities of the Epi-Lab.

The Epi-Lab is a WHO collaborating centre and member of the National TB Partnership in Sudan. Since 2005, it serves as a public health services research centre. Its development represents an example of maximizing opportunities and developing a creative approach to addressing challenges and obstacles in a resource-limited environment.
