To achieve the project’s objectives, the following outcomes are anticipated: 

  • viability, availability, sustainability and cost effectiveness of alternatives to the use of DDT demonstrated;
  • capacity built in each country to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the application of alternatives based on the principles of integrated vector management;
  • collection, repackaging and disposal of persistent organic pollutants pesticides used in public health and agriculture completed;
  • information on good practices and demonstrated cost-effective and sustainable alternatives are taken up by national institutions and in planning processes;
  • transboundary coordination, information sharing and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms operational and effective in promoting integrated vector management without the use of DDT.
