Technical support for national Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV programmes, 16 – 21 March 2013

A technical mission to support the Libyan national TB and HIV programme's testing and counselling component was conducted from 16 to 21 March 2013. The mission was carried out by two experts from the Regional Office.

A number of technical meetings were held with various stakeholders during the mission including the national AIDS programme director and staff, director of national centre for disease control, national association for people living with HIV and nongovernmental organizations.

It was agreed that the WHO will assist the national AIDS programme in the introduction and rapid scale up of a diverse HIV testing and counselling service delivery models and approaches. The WHO will also liaise with the national Tuberculosis (TB) programme to ensure that HIV testing is provided for TB positive patients during hospitalization.
