Criteria

The main criteria for the candidate school to join the IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illness) pre-service education initiative are:

extensive involvement of faculty in the introduction and implementation of the IMCI strategy in the country;

high commitment of school senior academic staff to the initiative;

receipt of an official request from the university chancellor or faculty dean to the ministry of health for assistance in this area (orientation for staff, planning etc.);

location of the school in an area in which the ministry of health is already implementing IMCI in health facilities.

Starting with a leading academic institution in a country has the advantage of setting an example and paving the way for other schools.
