An intercountry workshop on operational research methods and proposal development in communicable diseases was held from 8 to 13 October 2011 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The objective of the workshop was to develop protocols to address challenges in disease control and strengthen research capacity of national disease control programmes in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region.
