The eighth meeting of the Regional Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee of the WHO/UEP/GEF-project will take place in Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran 9–11 June 2015.

2015, is the final year for the WHO/UNEP/GEF project on “Demonstration of Sustainable Alternatives to DDT and Strengthening of National Vector Control Capabilities in Middle East and North Africa” for 8 supported countries.

This year meeting will involve all countries from the Eastern Mediterranean Region to: 1) present the findings of the GEF project and share the lessons learnt on implementation of sustainable vector control interventions; 2) adopt the updated regional strategy on integrated vector management (IVM) 2016–2020; and 3) to consult with Member States on the draft regional action plan 2016–2020 for implementation of the Malaria Global Technical Strategy (2016–2030).
