Tripoli, 2 October 2022 – Through a generous contribution from the European Union, today, the World Health Organization (WHO) donated 100 desktop computers and 100 laptops to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Tripoli. The items were handed over during a ceremony in Tripoli in the presence of Dr Haider Muftah Al-Sayeh, the Director-General of the NCDC, and Ms Elizabeth Hoff, WHO Representative in Libya.
The equipment will be distributed to vaccination supervisors and immunization data officers in municipal health services across the country.
Dr Al-Sayeh welcomed WHO’s contribution and said that this is a timely donation as a new shipment of EPI vaccines is scheduled to arrive by mid-October 2022. The NCDC would use the new equipment to strengthen vaccination services in Libya’s municipalities.
Ms Hoff said that enhancing Libya’s health information system was one of WHO’s priorities. “We are supporting efforts to collect, analyse and disseminate COVID-19 and other vaccination data to improve decision-making and help promote strong and equitable vaccination services in all parts of Libya.”
