These supplies were funded by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

WHO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, delivered 10 basic interagency emergency health kits and supplement interagency emergency health kits to the clinic. The kits are designed to treat more than 10 000 people for up to 3 months.

Four type B trauma kits were also supplied to Benghazi Medical Centre. The kits are designed to treat more than 400 moderate to severe cases.

There is a pressing need for supplies such as these in Benghazi, especially due to the fact that hospitals in the city are not working at full capacity and are faced with a lack of medical staff and essential medical supplies, including both medicines and equipment.

Dr Sayed Jaffar Hussain, WHO Representative in Libya, welcomed the continuous support of ECHO, saying that this support made WHO’s response to the urgent needs of the underserved populations in Libya possible.
