14 March 2018 – The WHO country office in Libya with the support of WHO staff from headquarters and the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean conducted a 3-day workshop which was developed in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Libya. The workshop was attended by 25 participants representing the Ministries of Health, Social Affairs, Transportation, Labour, nongovernmental organizations concerned with disability, emergency service providers and academia.

Participants reviewed the situation of road traffic injuries, rehabilitation and disability in Libya.

They also mapped existing challenges and discussed the mechanisms to address them in order to move forward to attain the goals of the 2030 Development Agenda and the Decade of Action for Road safety.

Main areas for action to be included in the strategic action plans for road traffic injury prevention and control and for strengthening rehabilitation services, based on WHO normative guidance, were identified during the workshop.
