24 January 2018 – On 22 January 2018, World Health Organization with financial support from the European Union launched a 4-day workshop on the Customization of Libyan district Health information system. The workshop, conducted from 22 to 25 January 2018 in Tunis, aimed to customize the data collection tools to enhance collection, processing, analysis and reporting of health indicators for evidence-based decision-making towards universal health coverage. Two experts from the WHO Regional Office facilitated the workshop.

The event was attended by 20 participants from the Ministry of Health; Ms Edda Costarelli, Health Expert from the European Union Delegation to Libya, and experts from GIZ, who are implementing the Libyan Health System Strengthening project funded by the European Union.

The DHIS 2, once implemented, will enable the Ministry of Health to collect and report on all health-related indicators for evidence-based decision-making.

The workshop is part of the European Union funded project known as Strengthening Health Information System and Medicine Supply Chain Management “SHAMS” Project. WHO Country Office for Libya is the implementing agency. The project was launched in January 2017 and is planned to continue for 2 years.
