4 February 2021 – H.E Minister of Health, Dr Nathir Obeidat joined a COVID-19 partner meeting organized by Mr Anders Pedersen, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan attended by representatives of embassies, United Nations agencies, and other international organizations. Mr Pedersen, opened the meeting commending the Government of Jordan’s efforts for including all those living in Jordan, including refugees, in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan. He added that the United Nations and the international community would continue to facilitate an exchange of information, best practices, lessons learned on COVID-19 and support the Government's efforts basing all interventions on the epidemiological situation. 

During the meeting H.E Minister of Health Dr Nathir Obeidat provided an update on the Government’s efforts in responding to COVID-19 and the current status of the epidemic. He responded to questions related to the reopening of schools, the new variants and the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, stressing that the Government was aiming to vaccinate as many people residing in Jordan as possible, irrespective of nationality. “On behalf of the Government of Jordan I would like to thank you all for all the support provided to the Ministry of Health in responding to COVID-19, we really appreciate it,” H.E added.

The WHO team provided an update about COVID-19 situation in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region and at the global level. Dr Maria Cristina Profili, WHO Representative to Jordan, thanked H.E. for joining the meeting with partners. Dr Profili commended the Ministry for the continued collaboration, pointing out that Jordan's efforts in response to the pandemic had being well recognized locally but also at regional and global level. “WHO and partners will make sure to continue providing all support possible to the Government of Jordan in its fight against COVID-19,” Dr Profili added.
