Amman, 15–16 March 2017 – Following the successful scale-up and implementation of the National Integrated Electronic Surveillance System in Jordan for integrated reporting of communicable diseases, noncommunicable diseases and mental health with the support of World Health Organization, the Ministry of Public Health and WHO in Lebanon conducted a visit to Jordan to learn more about how the system is functioning and to understand the factors associated with the implementation.

The mission met with the Director of Primary Health Care and the project manager of the system as well as the technical focal points and the Information Technology Directorate at the Ministry of Health.

The mission was concluded with a visit to one of the comprehensive centres in Amman in an attempt to see the practical side of the system and how it is being used.

The program is being implemented in 510 reporting sites across Jordan to collect analyse and report disease surveillance information using mobile tools in real time. Training sessions are being regularly held across Jordan to train public health officials and clinic staff on how to use the system.
