Who should apply?

Candidates from the following professions are entitled to apply.

Public health workers, including but not limited to, health educators, health inspectors, sanitary engineers, health technicians

Health administrators/managers

Physicians (medical doctors)

Nurses and midwives

Laboratory and radiology technicians

Pharmacists

Nutritionists

Epidemiologists, biostatisticians and researchers

Dentists

Undergraduate students

The selection of female candidates is encouraged in order to ensure full compliance with the organization's policies on gender.

What are the eligibility criteria for applicants?

Applicants should be:

less than 55 years of age

government employees

have at least two years of experience

demonstrate proficiency in language of study.

Who nominates fellowship candidates?

Nomination of the candidates should be done by their government in a selection committee with the participation of the WHO representative.

Who determines stipend payments to fellows?

All entitlements are determined by the United Nations system.

Who is responsible for the submission of the Utilization Services Report?

Fellows and their goverments

Who will evaluate the reports submitted by the fellows?

The technical programme followed by the fellowships programme.

What is the difference between the Fellowship Application Form (FAF) and the course application?

FAF is the standard fellowship application form of the WHO. The course application form is specifically designed by the host institution according to the course.

Who pays the tuition fees?

WHO pays the tuition fees. Invoice/letter indicating the amount the amount should be sent to the Regional Office (the fees are negotiated before the start of the fellowship).

Should travel authorizations be issued for fellows?

Yes, travel route and cost are indicated in the letter of award and this is considered as an authorization of the country's office to provide the ticket.
