A workshop on the assessment of all hazard emergency preparedness and laboratory capacity building for biosafety/biosecurity was held in Muscat, Oman, from 30 August to 1 September 2010. The objectives of the workshop were to finalize the consolidated assessment report and capacity-building plan, and to plan for a national dissemination workshop.

Participants in the workshop were laboratory staff and epidemiologists from the European Union, Ministry of Health, National Commission for Civil Defence, Royal Oman Police and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Council of the European Union supports the activities of the WHO in the areas of laboratory biosafety/biosecurity and all hazard preparedness. This happens under the European Union's framework against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
