The tool, developed by the EMRO Technical Committee on IMCI Pre-service Training Evaluation, was field-tested in Egypt, in July 2006, and Sudan, in August 2006. The evaluation included a review at national level and institutional level, including the University of Alexandria in Egypt and University of Khartoum in Sudan. It covered both process and outcome. The field-tests, conducted by members of the evaluation committee, yielded very encouraging results, in terms of performance of both the tool and students. The tool has then been reviewed thoroughly by an expanded committee during the Second Consultation on IMCI pre-service Training.
