29 May 2025, Cairo, Egypt – WHO participated in the 7th Global Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH7) Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, held between 4 and 6 May 2025. The Conference brought together occupational safety and health (OSH) experts, policy-makers and partners to shape safer and healthier working conditions.

Held under the theme The Future of Occupational Safety and Health, participants focused on innovative ways to address emerging challenges. WHO headquarters and the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean conducted a workshop titled Caring for those who care: development and implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) programmes for health workers.

The session outlined practical steps to develop comprehensive OHS programmes for health workers at all levels. Discussions centred on collaborative support to advance OHS programmes, including heat protection, with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, the Public Health Authority and the National OSH Council.

WHO is committed to providing technical support to national stakeholders to develop OHS programmes for all health workers in Saudi Arabia.
