Participants of the meeting on the second global status report on road safety standing on the steps of the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean A regional follow-up meeting on the second global status report on road safety was held in Cairo from 19 to 21 December 2011. The meeting brought together national data coordinators and injury prevention focal points of ministries of health from 15 Member States of WHO's Eastern Mediterranean Region. Capitalizing on the momentum created by the global status report on road safety and the work of the national data coordinators, the meeting aimed to consolidate road safety efforts in countries, in coordination with WHO at global, regional and national levels.

Funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, this follow-up meeting was organized to discuss results, analyse needs and gaps, suggest a road map for action for 2012 based on resultant analysis, and to provide input on the formats for planned regional factsheets and country reports based on data in the second global report on road safety.
