WHO is directly involved in visceral leishmaniasis by providing medicines, diagnostic supplies and training to national health personnel. It also coordinates the different implementing partners and provides technical support to ensure standardized medical protocols.

WHO supports the leprosy programme by providing medicines to all patients in need, as well as through facilitating a proposal funded by The Nippon Foundation. The proposal is being implemented in 2012.
