The Fifth international course on advanced malaria microscopy and quality assurance will take place in Muscat, Oman, from 6 December 2012 to 2 January 2013.

The aim of this course is providing the participants with the skills, to internationally established standards, in advanced malaria microscopy especially in quality assurance and species diagnosis and quantitation, laboratory management, networking and reporting. It also cover use of RDTs for malaria diagnosis and development of malaria slide bank.

The course is of 4-weeks' duration with a minimum of 100 tutor contact hours. Teaching methods include short lectures, group and individual work based on problem solving, laboratory practice and field work.
