An intercountry meeting on IHR implementation took place from 24 to 27 November 2008 in Aleppo, Syrian Arab Republic. The purpose of the meeting, organized by the Regional Office with the support of IHR Coordination Geneva, was to discuss and reach an understanding on core capacities requirements for surveillance, alert and response in the Region. The meeting included a review of assessment tools developed for measuring national core capacities and discussion of core capacities implementation plans.
