Session V: Environmental Disasters: warning, relief and managementThis session will cover the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative “Awareness, Preparedness for Emergency at Local Level” (APELL). This initiative creates (or increases) community awareness of the possible hazards involved in the manufacturing, handling, transporting and/or use of hazardous materials, and the steps taken to prepare for and protect communities from potential accidents. Additionally, it develops an emergency response plans by the entire community stakeholders to cope with emergencies and accidents. Together with ways to promote regional cooperation in this area.
