WHO EMRO brought together the experts from the Region and across the world in February 2023, for their insights and feedback on the WHO EMRO progress in implementation of the Regional Action Plan. The Regional Action Plan aims to improve the national institutional capacity for use of evidence in policy-making for health, in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
WHO Global Evidence-to-Policy (E2P) Summit, August 2023
The WHO Global E2P Summit delved into the world of E2P, explored the latest developments and discuss about how to shape its future. Highlights of the Summit include engaging in debates on emerging E2P frameworks and tools; discovering strategies to enhance trust in science and combat misinformation, gaining insights from E2P funders on their priorities and expectations.
Launch of web-based training package on evidence-informed policy-making – April 2022
The video shows the launch event of the Web-Based Training Package on the key elements for evidence-informed policy-making, a selection of high-quality training materials, created by regional and globally renowned institutions. After the inauguration by Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, WHO Regional Director, Dr Arash Rashidian, Director for Science, Information and Dissemination introduced the development, use and purpose of this unique capacity building resource, developed by WHO EMRO.
National institutional capacity for use of evidence for policy-making for health: guiding dimensions
An outline of the guiding dimensions of the programme to institutionalize evidence-informed policy-making, is followed by the description of the 2 necessary conditions for the programme to be effective. The different dimensions help policy-makers design an institutionalization plan and implement it in a way that responds to their needs.

Regional Network of Institutions for Evidence and Data to Policy (NEDtP)
Following the 2019 resolution on the development of the national institutional capacity for evidence-informed policy-making for health (EM/RC66/R.5), a Regional Network of Institutions for Evidence and Data to Policy (NEDtP) has been established. In the video, experts from the WHO Regional Office and the NEDtP explain the main purpose, the characteristics and the long-term beneficial impact of the Network’s work.
