11 November 2021 – From 23 to 25 November 2021, the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean's TB programme will be conducting a 3-day online training workshop for TB consultants and WHO staff on programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis in the Region.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

brief TB consultants and WHO staff on the latest WHO recommendations for the treatment of drug-resistant TB, including considerations for the implementation of all-oral and shorter regimens for eligible groups of patients;

discuss the current regional Green Light Committee (rGLC) review mission process, including possible modifications required for more effective programmatic management of drug-resistant TB.

The training will address the need to further align and update the knowledge of consultants on the regional TB roster and WHO staff supporting the implementation of programmatic management of drug-resistant TB on the introduction of the latest WHO recommendations for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant TB and foster the continuation of support to countries through increasing the pool of qualified consultants assisting countries in the operationalization of the most up-to-date guidelines. The meeting will also discuss the main considerations for implementation at country level, as well as how potential implementation challenges can be addressed. The current rGLC review mission process and common challenges will also be discussed.

The webinar will be hosted by the WHO Regional Office with participation from technical staff from WHO country offices in the Region, regional offices and headquarters, WHO consultants and partner representatives.
