Dr_NimaDr Nima Saeed Abid, WHO Representative in Syria

Dr Abid has occupied the post of WHO Representative a.i. in Syria since 15 July 2019.

Prior to this assignment, Dr Abid was Team Leader of Cross-Cutting Functions of the Polio Eradication Programme at the WHO regional polio centre in Amman.

Dr Abid has an MBChB Education from the Medical College University of Basrah in Iraq and a fellowship in Community Medicine (Iraqi Board). He majored in epidemiology, sociology, environment and biostatistics.

Dr Abid was acting WHO Representative in Pakistan, Polio Team leader and Deputy Senior Coordinator for polio Eradication in Pakistan.

Dr Abid also worked as Director General of Public Health and Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health of Iraq.
