Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) joint response mission in Burtinle

Between 8-14 November, a total of 107 acute watery diarrhoea (AWD) including 7 related deaths were reported from Burtinle in Nugaal region, Puntland. Ministry of Health, Merlin and WHO Somalia carried out a joint response to contain the outbreak. The outbreak team provided medical supplies to treat patients at the Burtinle mother and child health (MCH) centre where cases had been reported.
In stepping up key health interventions, partners also undertook case management, hygiene promotion and chlorination activities, and capacity building of heath staff at the MCH.
