The objectives of the regional certification commission meetings in the Eastern Mediterranean Region are to review the certification reports submitted by the countries, to formulate recommendations and to review progress towards certification and containment of laboratory stocks of poliovirus.
The meetings are attended by the members of Eastern Mediterranean Regional Certification Commission, Chairpersons of National Certification Committee, focal points of the national epidemiological immunization programme and representatives of partner organizations; mainly Rotary International and Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
