The Ministry of Health launched World Health Day 2013 in Salalah in close collaboration with the World Health Organization. The WHO Representative and two WHO staff travelled to Salalah to participate in the festivities which included a launch ceremony and an exhibition. The Ministry of Health took the opportunity during the week-long event to not only raise awareness about hypertension, the theme for World Health Day 2013, but also other health issues. In addition, numerous events were also held around the country to commemorate the day including screening for high blood pressure and high blood sugar in the Ministry of Health central offices.
