WHO supports national discussion on key social issues

Two WHO Staff contributed to the National Conference on Disability and Health of Elderly held by the Ministry of Social Development from 29 to 30 October 2014. Around 400 participants from all national sectors and three UN agencies (WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank) discussed cross-cutting issues, share international experiences and deliberated on a framework on the social policies related to older persons, persons with disabilities and children and women. The conference provided the opportunity for WHO to provide normative guidance in two areas WHO global disability action plan 2014–2021: Better health for all people with disability and the Strategy for active, healthy ageing and old age care in the Eastern Mediterranean Region 2006–2015.
