On 17 February 2021, the WHO Representative in Oman, Dr Jean Jabbour, signed a partnership agreement with Dr Hilal Al-Sabti, Executive President of the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB), to support a national e-learning platform to deliver and promote capacity-building and health education for health professionals in the country. This will help ensure the continuity of medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The platform will be sustainable, accessible to all and linked to accreditation to encourage uptake by health care professionals.

The partnership will enable OMSB to utilize WHO's resources, expertise and skills for the production of medical education courses. This will include various technical and financial resources, including but not limited to training and technical support. This "win-win" approach will be of mutual benefit to both parties. Given the pioneering role of Oman in various health issues, WHO Oman is striving to ensure that best practices are pursued to maximize the available potential, not only in Oman but beyond, for the benefit of the entire Region and globally.
