Addressing noncommunicable diseases (NCDS) in Oman

A one-day workshop on the prevention and management of noncommunicable diseases was conducted by the Directorate General of Health Affairs, Ministry of Health on 14 March 2013. The workshop was the first in a series of continuing professional development workshops planned by the directorate for the year 2013.

The WHO Representative for Oman provided a detailed overview on the global and regional actions on the prevention of NCDs with a focus on the the Draft action plan for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases 2013–2020 and the Global Monitoring Framework.

The programme included four sessions: current trends in NCDs, management of NCDs, prevention of NCDs and innovative initiatives in Oman on the prevention of NCDs.
