Oman strengthens school health programme

The WHO mission that visited Oman from 2 to 6 November 2014 noted a well-established school health programme and recognized the close collaboration between the ministries of health and education in deliverying a set of multiple interventions. A four point plan of action was developed focusing on improving policy coordination aligning the health promoting school and child friend school approaches, strengthening the instructional components of these approaches to support health and social development, revising the monitoring and reporting system, including identifying the five top priority issues for the coming 5 years, and building national capacity, particularly in the latest ecological and systems-based approaches to school health promotion.
