MHPSS dashboard
The Mental Health and Substance Use Programme at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean developed this regional dashboard to facilitate data sharing and planning for mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in countries with complex emergencies, including those affected by conflicts. The Eastern Mediterranean Region has ongoing political conflicts resulting in the displacement of millions of people, creating a need for mental health services. However, limited availability of mental health specialists, shortages in psychotropic medicines, and overall disruption to health systems in emergencies are creating barriers to access these services. The dashboard aims to serve as a monitoring system for MHPSS needs and resources, collecting data from priority countries and improving coordination among stakeholders involved in MHPSS actions. The dashboard's development involved consultation with relevant stakeholders to agree on its structure and content and adapt it to each country context. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the generation of comprehensive situational analysis reports to inform a regional level MHPSS action plan, making a significant impact in addressing the mental health needs of the Region's populations affected by conflict.
