The health care financing programme was established to provide technical support to improve the overall financial structure of Jordan's health care system. This includes the provision of technical support to relevant bodies on the subject of financing, managerial mechanisms, financial policies, health insurance schemes and others.

The programme also aims to improve the fairness and quality of governmental and private health insurance initiatives. This is achieved through the conducting of assessment and capacity-building training. In partnership with the International Labour Organization, the health care financing programme has also assisted in the improvement of financial procedures and health care protection to achieve universal coverage for the essential health service package in Jordan.

In collaboration with the High Health Council and the Ministry of Health, WHO produces a national health account annual report. This report provides an overview of finance data released by the Government of Jordan.
