An interagency (UNFPA, UNHCR, WHO) capacity-building workshop was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 28 to 30 November 2011 on gender-based violence data collection in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The workshop focused on ethical data collection and use, including the challenges in collecting and using data on gender-based violence. The Gender Based Violence Information Management System was shared with participants as best practice, with a focus on the importance of the role of data collection in supporting service provision for survivors, standardized incident definitions, and confidentiality and data security measures.
