Second international conference on age-friendly cities, Quebec, 9–11 September 2013

The Second international conference on age-friendly cities logoThe second international conference on age-friendly cities will take place in Quebec City from 9 to 11 September, 2013. The Conference's general objective is to develop collaboration among all stakeholders who are engaged in, or who have an interest in, the development of age-friendly cities.

The conference will focus on the four following major thematic tracks.

  • Age-friendly cities as social innovation
  • The role of various stakeholders
  • The interface between built and social environments
  • An evaluation of age-friendly city initiatives.

    The Scientific Committee of this second international conference is inviting proposals for presentations during the conference. The presentations can focus on progress in research or illustrate the contributions of researchers, elected officials, municipal administrators, professionals, or members of civil society to the development of age-friendly cities.

    The deadline for submission of proposals is 15 April, 2013.

    Statistics and figures

    In the Eastern Mediterranean Region it is projected that by 2025, older persons will make up nearly 8.7% of the population, and by 2050 nearly 15%, of the population.
