WHO delivers additional trauma care supplies to patients injured in Mogadishu attacks, Somalia
19 October 2017, Cairo, Egypt -- Trauma care medicines and surgical supplies have been dispatched from WHO’s regional operations hub in Dubai to Somalia to support the provision of surgical care to patients injured in the recent attacks in Mogadishu. Weighing a total of 5.5 tonnes, the three trauma A kits (including three supporting trauma B kits), contain enough medicines, medical supplies and surgical instruments for 300 surgical interventions.
Four trauma kits, enough for 400 surgical interventions, will also be pre-positioned in WHO’s hubs in Hargeisa and Mogadishu, to be deployed as needed.
