Launching a coordination platform for hepatitis C in Egypt

Participants at the hepatitis coordination meeting20 March 2018 – A coordination meeting for hepatitis stakeholders was organized by WHO in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Specialized Federation for Health System Improvement (SFHSI). The meeting was held at the National Training Institute in Cairo on 7 March 2018, and was inaugurated by Dr John Jabbour, WHO Representative in Egypt, Dr Alaa Eid, Head of Preventative and Endemic Diseases at the Ministry of Health and Population, and Dr Wagida Anwar, Chair of the SFHSI. 

The main objective of the meeting was to launch a web-based coordination platform for hepatitis C in Egypt, with the participation of different stakeholders, including the National Council for Woman, the National Liver Institute, Egyptian Association for Community Medicine, Egyptian Association for Family Medicine, various Egyptian nongovernmental organizations, and the Bassiraty and Esmaouna community initiatives.
