20 October 2022 – In the statement below, Dr Tasnim Atatrah, WHO Representative in Bahrain, highlights the efficient measures taken by Bahrain upon detection of the first case of monkeypox infection in the country, as indicated by the preparedness and effectiveness of the health system in the country, further enhanced by the effective coordination exerted across all relevant authorities, including in the areas of epidemiological investigation, surveillance and readiness of laboratories, isolation and treatment facilities.
