Competition for the best media coverage of antimicrobial resistance in the Region
The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean is pleased to announce a competition for the best media work that addresses antimicrobial resistance in countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
The media is encouraged cover the issue to raise awareness and encourage best practices to promote the theme of the campaign: Seek advice from a doctor before taking antibiotics within the human and animal health sectors.
Categories for the contest
The competition covers work published or broadcast across three categories: 1) print media (newspapers and web); 2) radio; and 3) television.
Conditions
- Entries should have been published or broadcast between 13 November 2017 and 30 March 2018.
- Entries should include the benefits of the proper use of antibiotics for the public, as well as information on the consequences of the overuse and misuse of antibiotics in the human health and animal health sectors.
- Web material should be provided on DVD and the URL given.
- Video material should be sent on DVD or Flash memory or via URL to Dropbox or WeTransfer.
- Radio material should be sent on CD, flash memory stick or via URL to Dropbox or WeTransfer.
- Entries should be sent to the WHO Representative in your country, or to the Director of the Department of International Relations, Ministry of Health, so that they can be forwarded to the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. - Entries will be judged by a jury comprising a number of WHO technical experts, editors and communications professionals.
- Deadline for receipt of entries is 1 April 2018.
- WHO retains the right to use sections of submitted material in its own productions to further raise health awareness.
Prizes
Each of the three categories will include one first prize of US$ 1000 plus a WHO shield, a second prize of US$ 500, and certificate of appreciation.
