The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) is an intergovernmental body whose aim is to implement the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations/WHO Food Standards Programme. Its principle objective is to protect the health of consumers and to facilitate the trade of food by setting international standards on foods (i.e. Codex Standards) and other texts which can be recommended to governments for acceptance.

Photo credits: WHO Egypt 17 March 2026, Cairo, Egypt – The World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt has signed a technical assistance agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support the health needs of migrants and refugees. The project will focus on Cairo and Aswan governorates, both of which host large numbers of refugees. Egypt hosts more than 9 million migrants and refugees. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it has received around 1.5 million displaced Sudanese since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in 2023, making it the largest host country for Sudanese refugees.
