WHO works together with the Government of Pakistan to integrate gender equity and human rights mainstreaming as a cross-cutting priority across health programmes. WHO programmatic interventions target informed health planning and improved progress on health indicators while addressing persistent sociocultural inequalities that have an impact on public health.
Key interventions include, among others, research to inform health policies and institutional capacity-building on health equity and human rights in public health responses through multidisciplinary in-service training courses for professionals, practitioners, service providers and community workers from health and non-health sectors, academia, public health institutes and civil society organizations. This support strengthens gender-responsive health planning by supporting health planners’ and policy-makers’ gender analysis skills.
