Strengthening regional health security
The Eastern Mediterranean Region continues to face complex and evolving health emergencies. From protracted armed conflicts and recurrent disease outbreaks to the growing impact of climate change, the health and well-being of millions in the Region are under threat. In this challenging landscape, our collective efforts are not just important – they are lifesaving.
Our work drives transformative action. We support Member States by strengthening International Health Regulations (2005) core capacities through comprehensive assessments and capacity-building initiatives. We foster robust multisectoral coordination for effective preparedness and confront the critical intersection of community protection and climate change.

Our evidence-based work is driven by urgent needs. We advance risk analytics and management through data-informed planning. We bolster health emergency capacity development by strengthening emergency care systems and health facility resilience. We lead rapid surge deployment through targeted training. Above all, we support the building of a sustainable and skilled health emergency workforce.
This review highlights our actions to build resilient health systems and empower countries to protect their populations. We not only deliver trainings and draft contingency and preparedness plans, we are laying the foundations for a safer future. Every initiative we take, from strengthening surveillance networks to countering misinformation, is a step towards strengthening regional health security.
We invite you to explore how we are making a difference in the lives of the Eastern Mediterranean Region's populations.
