22 June 2021 – To extend partnerships in Oman, WHO Representative Dr Jean Jabbour visited Oman's Cancer Association on 31 May 2021 to meet HE Dr Walid Al Kharusi, President and Chairperson of Oman's Cancer Association, and the General Director. 

Oman's Cancer Association is a leading nongovernmental organization that supports cancer patients and their families through different initiatives and activities. During the visit, the the Association's team briefed the WHO country office team on its history. The WHO expressed its support to further collaborate in activities such as educational webinars, public awareness-raising initiatives, support to patients and building capacities on palliative care.

 

It was agreed that the technical teams from both organizations would continue the discussions to set specific objectives for collaboration, which would be reflected in a memorandum of understanding.
