24 March 2026, Beirut, Lebanon – The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), received a shipment of essential medical supplies at Rafik Hariri International Airport to support Lebanon’s strained health system amid escalating needs.

The shipment includes 3.5 tons of trauma and emergency health supplies provided by WHO, made possible through the generous support of the European Commission Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).
The supplies will help ensure continuity of trauma care and management of acute and infectious diseases. They include medicines and equipment to sustain lifesaving services across hospitals, primary health care centres and mobile health units serving affected populations.

WHO Representative in Lebanon Dr Abdinasir Abubakar emphasized: “This timely shipment of trauma supplies is a critical contribution to strengthening Lebanon’s emergency response capacity at a moment of heightened need. We are grateful for the European Union’s humanitarian support through ECHO, which reflects a strong commitment to saving lives and supporting frontline health workers. WHO remains fully engaged with national partners to ensure these essential supplies are rapidly distributed and reach those who need them most.”
WHO continues to work closely with the Ministry of Public Health and partners to coordinate the effective distribution of supplies and ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable populations in a timely and equitable manner.
