- Tell us brief about your background?
Am a general physician with an MPH and MSc in Health Policy Planning and Financing from LSHTM/LSE.
- What did you like most about WHO/EMRO?
I see it as an excellent beehive, even though everyone is different, but they all work together to create a better world with great commitment, organization and harmonized dynamic of working technics.
- What inspired you to come to work every day?
The simple fact that it had been my dream to work in the WHO since I knew about its existence and am blessed it came true.
- Your expectations Vs reality?
They were the same honestly, increase the depth of my knowledge, sharpening my skills set, get a different perspective to public health issues and learn from the best leaders and directors.
- What are your future goals?
To continue working in health policy and governance field as I believe my country need it mostly, especially in the current/next transitional period to reach the safe haven that we have been longing for the past 30 years.
- What were your major contributions during the fellowship?
1- I conducted a regional assessment of organizational capacity to incorporate evidence into policy process in EMR taking Sudan as a pilot study, that will be published in the near future.
2- Also, am preparing a regional report analysing the role and impact of media in policy process regarding COVID-19 pandemic in the EMR.
- What is your takeaway from this fellowship?
Meeting great people, amazing leaders and accomplishing more on both personal and professional level.
- What were your fun experience outside EMRO office in Cairo?
Am no stranger to Cairo, I consider it my second home and I was granted the chance to create beautiful memories with family and friends.
- Any tips and suggestions for future fellows?
Always be prepared, open minded, creative, courageous and futuristic in both your thinking and approach.
