The 26th intercountry meeting of national Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) managers and the second meeting of the national immunization technical advisory group took place in Cairo, Egypt, from 4 to 7 July 2010. The objectives of the meeting were to: review national and regional progress in EPI achievements, including constraints and the way forward; discuss recent advances in new vaccines and technologies, including progress and constraints and the challenges facing their use; discuss progress towards polio eradication, including achievements, constraints and the way forward; and brief the chairperson of the national immunization technical advisory group on progress and constraints facing the EPI and the expected role of the national immunization advisory group in supporting the programme.
